Passive CWDM +TV

CWDM+TV passive system is designed for transmission of the analog TV signal and digital data (e.g., Ethernet or STM) via a single fiber between two or more communication nodes.

This multiplexing system allows operators to expand the range of services available to subscribers.

CWDM technology uses a wavelength grid from 1270 nm to 1610 nm in increments of 20 nm (ITU-T G.694.2 standard). Among the grid wavelength values there are those required for the analog TV signal transmission: 1310 nm and 1550 nm. Most optical TV transmitters operate exactly on these wavelengths.

As a standard, the transmission of up to 5 duplex communication channels over a single fiber and one analog TV signal are organized in these systems. When using a narrow-band TV signal transmitter (1525 nm ¨C 1565 nm), the number of implemented duplex communication channels grows to 7.

System Capabilities:

  • joint transmission of up to 7 duplex communication channels and an analog TV signal;
  • support of all transmission protocols;
  • transmission of any kind of traffic: data, voice, multimedia.

Transmission Medium Features:

  • single optical fiber;
  • maximum route length of up to 90 km (depending on fiber-inserted attenuations);
  • maximum value of fiber-inserted attenuations of about 30 dB;
  • the spectral width of the transmitted analog TV signal shall not exceed 60 nm.
